This book tells about the people and ideas present when he was a young student and researcher. His family is described a bit, and his early experiences as a student are described. There is a chapter about how his work was received in Russia, and you read some about Vygotsky in that chapter. Some chapters the chapters are by different people tell about the ways in which his theory has and has not been applied in schools.
