Some narrations seemed brief, some very tangential; seemingly in line with the author's disclaimer that this is his personal experience and is not to be considered a study.
The Quiet Mind by John E. Coleman
The reader is taken through the geographies and spaces that the author traveled to. He tried to capture to a decent extent moments of his experience. Travels spanning from Thailand, to Burma, to India and the magnificent Kanchenjunga, to Tibet, and the beautiful Japan.
While some of Interesting account of the author's travels. While some of the incidents quoted seemed irrelevant, like the bar-license incident in Mumbai, the book has to be read in light of a person's view. It does give a good account of the true essence of Vipassana in the last chapters.

This will forever be tagged as a "currently reading" book. While some religious devotees might carry the Bible with them, I like to identify myself as a spiritual devotee and this mini book often calms my mind on hectic, stressed out, sad days.
When I say little, it's just thatsmaller than an index card so it goes everywhere with me. It is divided into sections so you can easily skip around and read a short passage based on how you're feeling or what you're needed at the moment. Highly reco This will forever be tagged as a "currently reading" book.

I needed to hear what it had to say and so asked if I could borrow it.
As it turns out, I am the first student to borrow a book from the linguistics department! As I walked out of the building with my nose buried in it, I realized that nothing and nobody can be expected to be perfect, but that is what we all strive to be, and maybe, with one another's help, we can reach it one day. This book made me aware that our spiritual brothers and sisters are no strangers to what we go through daily, and that they come close to help us in our time s of need, often without us knowing.
There are words of inspiration, reassurance, simple admonition.
