But I like the way the story ends it was a sad and tragic love story between Bill and Vanessa which absolutely turned me into the state of shock and made me cry for so many times. I think the title is very apt because Bill died in the end and no one knows that they had a beautiful, meangful and magical secret affair aside from the three women that Bill treasure of which is his mother, daughter and Vanessa.
Overall, I must say that her novel was worth reading for and the reader must be prepare for the sudden outburst of feeling like crying and prepare your eyes for surely you will cry and make sure you have a tissue and after reading please do make sure that you have a friend who share the same passion of you which is reading because you might be also carried away and need someone to talk to after being swept by this great and amazing book. You just have been warned.. Perhaps the book jacket killed it for me because it gave the entire game away, just about.
Nevertheless, I managed to sit through the book but came away perplexed as to how Barbara Taylor Bradford could be claimed as "one of the great storytellers of our time". Because really, she didn't tell the story so much as reported it line by line. Oh sure, there was the gratuitous love-making halfway where we were told it was passionate. But as far as chemistry was concerned, it was even less than textboo Perhaps the book jacket killed it for me because it gave the entire game away, just about.
But as far as chemistry was concerned, it was even less than textbook and completely unbelievable - mostly because we were told rather than shown. All that was tolerable until it came to the bit when the heroine jumped immediately to the conclusion that the hero had just gotten tired of her and was off canoodling with another broad because he didn't show up. I about threw the book across the room in disgust then.

Having said that, I was greatly disappointed with this book. The storyline, while believable leaves a lot to be desired. There is no opportunity to get to know the characters—Bill and Vanessa—other than through their lust. It would appear that the author is feeling the heat of producing for her publisher rather than writing for her readers. Anyone who likes contemporary fiction. This book was about a woman who cheated on her husband so I was immediately disgusted with her. The story line was predictable. The woman divorced her husband, kept meeting up with the boyfriend for rendezvous. The ending was different than I had imagined, but still, the overall story was uninspired. I thought it needed more shared times and feelings of the two main characters for me to get sucked into it.
