I like Kurmaskie's writing style, his take on life in general, and I'm admittedly a little bit jealous of the biking adventures that he has been able to enjoy.

This book wasn't quite as good as "Momentum is Your Friend", one of his later books, simply because of the format.

Cowboy Metal Artists

The essays are enjoyable, but "Momentum" sucked me in more because it followed one story from beginning to end riding across America from west to east pulling his two kids. It was a bit more compelling. It was still a good book, and due to the format, it was actually a little easier to put down from time to time rather than staying up two hours longer than I wanted to because I couldn't put it down! I have read several other books by Joe Kurmaskie and he has become one of my favorite authors. A wonderfully gifted story teller with equal amounts of insight and humor into the condition of mankind.

Metal Cowboy is a delightful group of stories from Joe's travels around the world as seen and experienced from the seat of a bicycle.

And yes you will find the story, in the very first chapter, of how he got the nickname Metal Cowboy. Buy this book, read this book, and pass it on to your friends and family so they can begin to understand why you ride a bike. It's an entertaining book about the author's travel across the United States on his bike. He tells about his adventures in a humorous and insightful way.

Kindle Edition Verified Purchase. I read these out of sequence. Well, I love that book so much I purchased the "Metal Cowboy". This book did not disappoint me, I'm totally amazed at so many funny, heart felt, and amazing stories as recollected by Joe. It is truly a book that you cannot put down once you begin one of his historical accounts of his travels.

About | Joe Kurmaskie The Metal Cowboy

Wonderful read full of visions and adventures and I'm not done yet! I enjoy the way Joe has carved each chapter in to it's own world and some with amazing insight, particularly the chapter on a bike adventure that ties in to reflections on the aids crisis. Good read Metal Cowboy!

This is a fabulous book that triumphantly celebrates one's love of bicycling in a series of wonderful and often poignant short stories. Highly recommend this book to cyclists and non-cyclists alike as it explores our common humanity, while touching your heart. This book is a treasure. This book chronicles some of Joe's travels around the world and I found his stories inspiring, humorous and humbling starting off with the story of how he got his name "Metal Cowboy" Winter is a great time to download this book and read a couple of chapters each night on your kindle or iPad.

They have been together for three years — starting out as the House Band for a Sioux Falls entertainment complex called Badlands Pawn. Those experiences tightened the band into a well-oiled musical machine and also cemented their bond as friends. When it was over, we were too strong and too stubborn to stop, so we renamed it Ron Keel Band and kept doing what we do — kicking ass.

When it came time to take the project to the next level with a worldwide album release, Ron looked no further than his old friend Ellefson and the EMP Label Group.

I was young and green then, and the singer that cut those tracks had a lot of growing to do as a vocalist. Now after three decades of practice, I am delivering those songs with new strength and authority that was missing on the original recordings. National Rock Review says this about it: Of being humble and doing everything it takes to achieve what you love to do.
