The history of the progress & termination of the Roman republic. By Adam Ferguson.
The book commences by attempting to present the book as written by an 18th Century Adam Ferguson, who may or may not be an ancestor of the author, but the presentation is simply incoherent. No, I did not reach the end to see whether there is any explanation. The simplest problem to explain is spliced sentences. For example, here is a randomly selected quote: Unfortunately, the problem is bigger than that, because you now have to put the sentences together, then you have to work out where they fit because at a higher level they also tend to be mixed up, and unfortunately not always at such obvious joints.
There appears to be little or no text that does not have some such problem. Quite simply, no matter how much information is really in this book, you won't get it because it is impossible to read. Avoid at all costs.
